Alcester Minster Churches

Worshipping God, making new disciples and transforming communities

Welcome to the Alcester Minster Website

Happy new year!

Christmas lights have been cleared away, but a new year needs light too.

This sentiment was central to the King's Christmas broadcast of 1939 when he quoted the poem:

And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:
“Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”
And he replied:
“Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God.
That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.”

This reminds me of Holman Hunt's painting - 'Light of the World', where Jesus is pictured knocking at the door of someone's life.  Jesus, God's Son invites us to place the year ahead into his hands and experience his light in our lives.

We'd be delighted to welcome you at any of our churches at the start of a new year.  Please click Services for details of when they are happening.

The Project pages contain details of some of the other things we do together.

God bless,

What is Alcester Minster?

It is a way of grouping together five Church of England parishes, comprising eight churches in and around Alcester with a single Ministry Team and a commitment to work together.  Many of our activities are therefore Minster-wide, designed for all who attend the churches and all who live in the parishes.  Some activities are specific to a particular parish.

The parishes are:

Alcester (St Nicholas)

Arrow and Weethley (Holy Trinity and St James)

Coughton and Sambourne (St Peter and Sambourne)

Haselor (St Mary and All Saints)

Kinwarton and Great Alne (St Mary the Virgin

and St Mary Magdalen)

Information about services in each Minster Church is available from the drop down menu on the Churches tab and also at this site too:  http://www.achurchnearyou.com/
